Nosso tópico é 'Education for All', mas sometimes we get out of track, por isso estamos falando de politica.

'Okay I am going to briefly try to explain what our stance is on the current situation regarding your question involving ANC's decision on Thabo Mbeki as well as what we think of Zuma.
Firstly, remember these are personal opinions and feel that looking at the broader picture you should decide what you feel about. Please tell us what you think of our response and what you in America are being told.
Elections in South Africa are similar to the way Elections are held in the UK. In South Africa and the UK the people vote for a party and not a person (like you guys vote for McCain or Obama). Here. we have numerous parties, such as the ANC (African National Congress), the DA (Democratic Alliance) and the NP (National Party), as well as SACP (South African Communist Party) and many more.
The party with most vote is the one responsible for heading the government, this includes President, VP and etc. Currently the ANC is the political party in charge. Mbeki was chosen as our President as he was the ANC's leader. During the time that Zuma was on trial for rape and corruption, Mbeki said that Zuma had to step down from VP, as they could not have some one that is on trial in office. Then around some time last year the ANC had a revote and Zuma was chosen to be the head of the ANC. Mbeki said that he would not step down as Zuma has the possibility of ending up in Jail and would only step down once the results for the trail were finalized that he would see what happens. The trial was aquitted and Zuma was meant to go into office but he had to wait for Elections that will take place in April of 09. We now currently have a stand in president until the elections are held.
We all brainstormed on what we think of Zuma and honestly we do not believe that anyone who says that HIV/Aids can be solved by taking a shower and washing it off. (Honestly, how ridiculous does this sound?) Many south africans are in fear of the day that Zuma actually comes into office. Now you all may be thinking that the elections haven't taken place here yet and how can we just "assume" that the ANC will win the election, but you have to understand that the ANC has the majority of votes in South Africa.
Within South Africa there is also rivalry between the tribes. Two tribes that have always had "beef" with one another and the Xhosa and Zulu. Mbeki being Xhosa and Zuma being Zulu. Since the ANC is currently split at the moment some wanting Zuma and the other wanting Mbeki, it is a worry that this conflict may turn into a tribal war.'

No começo do blog eu coloquei umas fotos to put face into names, aqui vao os names:

Mbeki

Zuma

I have been trying to follow what is happening in SA. Most info I read has been about the catastrophic disasters in neighboring Zimbabwe though. There is very little in the American media regarding SA nowadays. Too many other catastrophic disaters to discuss I guess...
